TIM SHARER - began mentoring young men in 1989 and hasn’t slowed down, even to this day. He has led an innumerable number of teens in Bible studies, camp groups, mission trips, and through a varsity basketball program. His thirty-five-year tenure spanning across six different presidencies, gives Tim a unique perspective on how the characteristics, thoughts, and challenges of being a teenager have changed over the decades.
He has taught hundreds of volunteer student workers through in-home and classroom workshops as well. He has been an Investment Professional for over thirty years and started his own company, Sharer McKinley Group, LLC, in 2002. Debbie, his bride of thirty-nine years, is the love of his life and helps out with his hobby of spoiling his two daughters and five grandchildren.
Finally, at one point I told him, “And then Trevor warned me not to get too close because if Ray thinks I am involved with an abuse accusation against him, he will accuse me of saying and doing some of the same disgusting things he has done. That’s what he does.” Detective Moser matter-of-factly responded, “Well, that’s where we are right now.
My whole world just stopped. I leaned back in my chair and whispered, “I was there for a kid who was going to shoot himself. From a hero to a pedophile.”
I ran over to Debbie and said, “I think the dude was an angel, seriously. Check out my arm. Those are humongous goosebumps. You can’t fake goosebumps.” It was if God was blatantly telling me not to worry, because He was here and was walking through this fire with me.
Tim Sharer became a mentor in 1989 when a student leader application literally hit him in the chest, thrown by a youth minister during a church service. Finding contentment and purpose in helping disciple young men, Tim spent the next thirty years building a community of men who continued to support each other, long after they’d moved on to start their families and careers. Many would lead successful, fulfilled lives, going on to become business leaders, pastors, college professors, a state legislator, an Air Force Lt. Colonel, a Space Force Captain, and even a ten-year-player in the NFL.
But in 2021, a false accusation would bring Tim’s life crashing down around him. After his years of mentoring and supporting men of all ages and backgrounds, Tim’s legacy and the reputation he’d painstakingly built were in shambles. Holding tight to his faith and the knowledge of his innocence, Tim and his courageous family endured rumors, lies, betrayals, and even death threats. All the while, the men he’d poured encouragement, faith, and support into now gathered around Tim to support him. In 12 Seconds, Tim shares his story in his own words, along with the proof of God’s faithfulness and mercy along the way.
Family is at the heart of Tim Sharer’s journey, both in life and in his book 12 Seconds. Tim’s unwavering love for his family has been his anchor through life’s challenges and triumphs. This cherished family photo captures the deep bond they share—a reminder that love, faith, and resilience can overcome anything.
“If you’d like to learn to do student ministry from one of the best, you need to read this book. If you want to laugh, cry, be inspired, or be challenged, you need to read this book. But, if you need to be reminded or warned that all who live “godly in Christ Jesus” will be put on Satan’s hit list, you have to read this book.”

“12 Seconds is a behind the scenes look at what a false accusation can do to a person’s life. But it is also a testimony to the awesome power found in having an unwavering faith, a steadfast family, and loyal friendships. A must read!”
